Textured Block Brings Durability to Urban Park's Public Facilities
Unique textured concrete masonry units from Best Block are bringing beauty and durablity to public facilities in Houston's latest urban park.
Midtown Park is a 3-acre recreation area located in the heart of Midtown, on top of a 400-space parking garage, and immediately adjacent to the McGowen rail station.
Textured block from Best Block is being used in the restroom facilities for its long-term durablity and resistance to cleaning agents. The curved, single wythe design provided fast construction and brought the attractive textured finish to both exterior and interior wall surfaces.
The long-time vacant space was transformed into an urban oasis by The Midtown Redevelopment Authority (MRA). The new park features a reflecting pool and waterfall, a 30,000 square foot lawn and performance stage plus a bayou landscape waterway and interactive water feature.
